History

From ROMS_AGRIF to CROCO

The IRD/INRIA version of the code, ROMS_AGRIF, made use of the AGRIF grid refinement procedure developed at Inria and proposed a powerful toolbox for ROMS pre- and post-processing: ROMSTOOLS.

CROCO is both an upgrade of this work and a renewed approach to coastal modeling based on a fully integrative treatment of the regional earth system from the deep ocean to the nearshore zone. The new code is developed within a solid consortium of French partners: UPS, IFREMER, SHOM, CNRS, INRIA and IRD; associated with historical ROMS protagonists in the North and South (particularly UCLA, DGEO …).

ROMS_AGRIF : Regional Oceanic Modeling System with mesh refinement

Over the past decade, we have developed at UCLA, Rutgers University, and IRD a 3D numerical oceanic model intended for simulating currents, ecosystems, biogeochemical cycles, and sediment movements in various coastal regions. The IRD version of the code, ROMS_AGRIF, makes use of the AGRIF grid refinement procedure developed at the LJK-IMAG and is accompanied by a powerful toolbox for pre- and post-processing: ROMSTOOLS. This version is not evolving anymore (see CROCO description) but has been extensively tested. Therefore it’s the one recommended for users looking for a stable version.

ROMS_AGRIF project is now frozen: last stable version 3.1.1 (July 2014)

 Transitioning

Because transition will occur within a projected period of 4 years, the present web site will keep its ROMS_AGRIF flavor for a while. This version keeps all the functionalities of ROMS_AGRIF (now frozen) and adds new ones (non-hydrostatic kernel … ). The documentation will also gradually evolve …
